Kari’s been obsessed with skincare for as long as she can remember—sneaking into her mom’screams (never the makeup!) as a kid growing up in Oregon. By 12, she was investing her strawberry-picking earnings on an expensive, elaborate Erno Laszlo Skincare routine, convinced it was the holy grail of skincare.
Kari’s love for skincare has driven her career. Withover 20 years experience, including a decade teaching for top retail and spa brands, Kari’s gotthe experience and education to back it up. She’s a licensed cosmetologist, has a 200-hourdiploma from The International Dermal Institute, and advanced studies in cosmetic chemistry at UCLA Extension with industry skincare chemistry expert Rebecca Gadberry. Kari’s not just skilled—she lives and breathes skincare, and her passion makes her the real deal.Why Kari? Combining her caring and passion for skincare, with her knowledge and education, Kari noticed many changes while working with clients, like you, all day every day. Clients started asking about specific ingredients while trying to navigate complicated formulas from the hundreds of options on the shelves. Then combine those ingredients through a complicated mixing and layering routine which often resulted in frustrated, dissatisfied clients. On top of this Kari many times has heard from clients, confusing misinformation which they have related to her from a variety of sources. Which at times has created mistrust when skincare professionals have tried to help.
Kari saw a need for a straightforward, simple core skincare routine, inclusive of all skins,
that can be customized to the skin's changes whenever they occurred due to hormones,
age, environment. The product formulas should be transparent, easily understood, and uphold quality standards agreed by dermatologist and Cosmetic Chemists alike. At Clean Actives we call these quality standards “the three pillars” of our active formulas.
