Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate or L-Ascorbic Acid | New Level Skincare

TETRAHEXYLDECYL ASCORBATE vs. L-ASCORBIC ACID

There are many vitamin C derivatives that can be used in skincare. L-Ascorbic Acid has long been considered the gold standard. Yet, its been many years and a new star has emerged. Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (THD) is now considered to be THE decisive winner.

L-ascorbic Acid and Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate have common benefits of neutralizing environmental damage, correcting dark spots and over all evening out the skin tone. However, there are important differences:

1) Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is more STABLE. It has a longer shelf life than L-ascorbic with longer lasting results. L-Ascorbic Acid is unstable  becoming less effective quicker.

2) Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is LESS IRRITATING making it more suitable for all skin types, including sensitive skins. L-Ascorbic Acid needs a lower pH that can be irritating to all skin types, especially sensitive and first time users.

3) Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is oil-soluble. Being oil-soluble means it can ABSORB DEEPER into the skin layers. L-Ascorbic Acid is water-soluble and therefore does not absorb as effectively.

4) Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate is GENTLER on the skin compared to other vitamin C ingredients. This makes this ingredient an excellent choice when you first start using a vitamin C and even for sensitive skins.

For these reasons, and more discussed in other posts, THE VITAMIN C SERUM from New Level™ skincare utilizes Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate.

Over time if, and when, other vitamin C options are PROVEN more advanced than Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate we will re-formulate!! We will ALWAYS look to take ALL our products to a NEW LEVEL.
